The motor is a 2002 yamaha four stroke. Has any one had one or know of someone that has. I am trying to find out it if is a well made motor. I was told to stay away from yamaha's from that the early 2000's  because of issue's but looking for a few more opinions.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You can't go wrong with Yamaha...In my opinion, Yamaha is the best outboard on the market...as for the year, 2002...I don't know of any issues. I have a 1997 80hp Yamaha on my 17 CC Parker. I've never had a problem with it. My engine gets worked about 2-3 times a week in saltwater, and never any issues. As with anything, proper maintenance is key. Take care of your engine, your engine will take care of you.
