Well i caught about 6-7 of these but only got two before my camera died sadly,

These are two diffrent fish they just look the same, Nothing but smallies in the creek.

I fished off a small dock and just moved my bait around till someting took it, I never let it set still.

Here are two pictures but i caught 6-7 And i used pieces of GULP nightcrawler Natural color and moldy bread...

CONGRATULATIONS! Way to go '151! You have no idea how happy I (and the other guys too) am to see you catch those fish. It wasn't as hard as you thought, was it? That's a great start...now get out there and get us a big bass!

Those are bluegill right? My friend was trying to debate that they were brim... Anyways, Since there small how could i use them for bait??

I mean because there about 50 - 60 of them in that stream and now i go my ultra light tackle rod and reel and line, Do you use bluegill as bait as whole or in pieces?

Look like bluegill or a closely related species to me. If it is legal, and that part is important and depending what you are fishing for, both whole and cut bait are probobly OK. Most big cat anglers tend to use whole (live) fish though.

Yes, those are Bluegill...and they are also bream. Bluegill are what they're called up here in Ohio, most folks down in Florida where you are call them bream. I can't really tell from the pictures but those look like average size 'gills. What are you planning to catch with one if you used it for bait?

Bass and the 'gills are enemys, but especially during spawing time. I've seen pics of bass with a 'gill stuck in it's throat.   B'gills will raid the nests of bass when the bass are spawning and in turn the bass will raid the B'gills nest during their spawning time.  The B'gills and other sunnys are also bait for most any predatory species.

Not saying that at all RR-151, just a general comment.  Check the laws in FL though.  It may not be legal at all.

Hey RR-151, I just want to post and clear something up for you, The only unorthodox method of catching fish is the one you do not use. I have many times run into situations where the by the book technique or bait just does not cut it, then usually via a bet or a gag to pass the time you try something different, and find it actually works. For instance, we were fishing off a long peir in about 12 feet of water with night crawlers, minnows, Jigs, etc, mostly for trout, but more for anything that was willing to bite, after 2 hours with no bite, we went across the road and got a hot cheese pizza, (the kind with the gooey cheese...MMMM) and for a gag, I threw some of the cheese with oil and all on a hook, and dropped it down, with in 15 minutes two of us caught our limit of keeper walleyes in a place we did not even know they existed. with 2 stretching 27", and all on the cheese, no trout but hey you take what you can get some times. another time we were smallmouth fishing over large boulders in a semi clear stream, and actually could see fish hanging in about 4 fow, but would not take a thing( tried different lures, nightcrawlers, jigs, minnows) then as a gag, I put on my twin teaser tail ( for those of you who are not muskie fisherment- it is a wooden topwater that has two tail sections that spin creating a lot of spit and sputter, but is about 12 inches long) well that was like lighting a fire under the fish, you could not keep the plug running for more than a few feet and you got a hit, we missed a lot just simply due tot he hook span was so large, they would miss the hooks, but ended with 23 bass in 3 hours. ( the craziest thing is this was mid to late summer when the normal doll dru{1}**** for fish as the heat and bright sun usually turn the feed of and when it is on it is slower moving small feed) boy not that day! In short, never think you are doing something wrong or trying something goofy, as you may be the hero by the end of the day for figuring out what works. And another tip, if you learn to laugh at yourself, it is alot easier to accept some o fthe crazy ideas that pop into your head. Ever hear of catching Northern Pike on old venison, or on carrot sticks? Me either till I saw it with my own eyes.
