I just bought a crank bait maybe 3 - 4 in and it looks like it has a diving lip but when i reel it in it just twirls like a twirl tail on a worm

It should dive deeper as you crank the reel (how deep depends on the angle and location of the lip and how fast you crank) and you should feel it vibrate as it wiggles back and fourth. |

It is a good shallow water crank bait. Looks like a finesse crank. Good for small bass. I would get some more crank bait with varying lip designs. Longer lips are for deeper diving and short lips are for shallow water, like the one you are showing here. I recommend Rapala's DT series crank baits, bomber crank baits and Berkley makes some good cranks too. I do not use alot of cranks myself, but I know bass love them. -Keep fishin |

That looks like a Strike King Bitsy Minnow...is that what it is? Those are great little crankbaits, I use them all the time. If you're using one of those big snap-swivels I told you earlier NOT to use, LOSE IT! Tie that little crank directly to your line and it should swim strait. |

Also, lower your rod tip on the retrieve...that will keep your crank bait down. I like to keep it down on the bottom, having it bang into stumps and rocks...kicking things up...it get the bass 's attention. |

I dont remember what its called because i have a touch of Short term memory loss but i can remember it said works mainly for panfish like Bluegills, Sunfish, Crapper ETC. In my opinion if a bass go that he would swallow that thing whole and like i said its maybe 1 -3 in |

Yeah, that's a Stike King Bitsy Minnow, Sexy Shad color. I've got a few just like it. They are designed for panfish, but the bass will SMASH that thing! P.S. always save the box or blister pack that a lure comes in...most of them have helpful hints on the back for using the lure! |

That's not as bad as you think. I probably can't cast those much over 10yds. myself. You can put a small splitshot about a foot ahead of it and that will give you more distance, with the ADDED bonus of making the crankbait suspend when you stop reeling...this also drives bass CRAZY! |

I got one similar but I think mine is bigger, not sure though. If you get a chance, try out the Rapala Dive-to cranks, especially in the bluegill color. The DT-06 (dives-to 6feet) in this color works really well in the spring and fair in the fall in my area. SC |

I found out that you have to reel it in slowly or jerk motions for it not to twist |
