    Hey everyone
Just lookin to see if anyone can help me out. Im lookin into adding a fish finder to my kayak. I have done a little looking around and have 3 that i am interested in.

    NorCross HawkEye F33P Fish Finder

Humminbird SmartCast RF35 Wrist Mount Waterproof Fishfinder

Humminbird PiranhaMAX 160 PT 4-Inch Waterproof Fishfinder and Dual-Beam Transducer

If you have used any of these and could give me some feedback or have any that you would recommend that are $200 or less i would realy appreciate it alot

I have yet to hear any good comments about the wrist or rod mount units. Seems the transducers don't hold up very well. You probably don't need a dual beam for a kayak. I have seen some units like the Piranha with a color display for under $200 lately. Color is definetly the way to go if you can afford it.

Piranha max is ok. Eagle 350 is good if you would like GPS. How are you mounting the ducker? Hooper in the hull or pool noodle installs work good. For more info on FF's look here in rigging section. Ncka.org everything you ever wanted to know about kayak fishing is there.

Depending on how big your kayak is, I would go with Lowrance DSI.They have 2 models, gray scale and color. The elite 5x is a 5 in color screen, chart plotter and sonar. Sonar has DSI-Down Scan Image...It's like an x-ray of what's underneath you. It's around 500, but well worth it. As far as your transducer goes, try mounting it IN your hull...It's called "shoot thru hull" application. what you do is lightly sand the bottom of your transducer, and lightly sand the inside of your hull where your going to mount it. Then with alcohol, you wipe clean the areas sanded. Then give a light spread of marine grade epoxy to the tranducer and inside of the hull..you want an air tight seal between the tranducer and hull. Let dry over night and you'll be good to go.You'll never have to worry about it falling off, or hitting it against stumps, rocks etc, etc...Go to youtube and watch a few videos on how to install a transducer in a kayak...there's a bunch...Good luck with which ever you choose...
