I was recently reading a DNR (South Carolina) guide book and saw an article about a lure called a kicktail. Maybe some of yall are familiar with it as the book was from last year. So anyway, it said the kicktail lure out fished conventional crank type baits like 10 to 1  and it said that there was talk about banning it. Its hard plastic and jointed about 4 times so the lure replicates a swimming baitfish. The one in the article was a shad. I bought something similar the other day at a gas station but it looks like a bluegill. I haven't really used it much but the one time I tied it on it seemed to "swim" very realisticly. Does anyone know about these or have any experience with them? Any input is greatly appretiated.

Seems like the ads for them in the magazines have been running for years...and come to find out...the company has been in business for 30 years...and claims 1,000,000 Kicktails sold

I believe that this is one of those lures like the Banjo Minnow...in other words...some LOVE them...some HATE them.

Cool! This is big news to me. I've been away from fishin' for about 10 years, just got back into it about a year or two ago. Even if the lure is a dud, I still like to check them all out. Thanks for the link davesett2000, I'm headed over there now to take a look around! Something that I've found interesting, is that while scores of these new lures have come and gone over the years, time tested favorites are still the big catchers...not just for me but many others in these forums.

Several years ago, I did buy a couple of the Heddon Kicktails, in the shad configeration. I had very good luck with them on casting, for both Coho and Chinook. I like'um!!

    Multi jointed hard body swimbaits.

I have a few Spro BBZ shad swimbaits and a few Trutungsten shad swimbaits. I like how their tail kicks in the water. They are however kind of hard to cast for distance.
