Wow. Beautiful fish. I have caught hundreds of rainbow and cutthroat trout but I have never caught a brown trout. They're just not found in the bodies of water I usually fish. Why is the fish in your last photo so dark by the way? Is that a brown trout as well? And how much did those fish weigh in at?

The top 2 pics is a brown trout, the bottom 1 is a rainbow (steelhead). Y are the fish so dark?haha Thats a good question. When I first caught a steelhead it was chrome, silver and later in the season caught them dark and wonder the same thing . I have posted some pics of what they look like when they first swim up the creeks to spawn. From what a guy told me is when they live in the lake, they get better oxygen and in the creeks it is less oxygen thus they turn dark. I dont know how true that is. I believe some pros say they turn dark cause they spawn and blend in to the environment. Salmon and trout are the same so they both turn dark in color. I didnt get to weigh those fish but the 1s i have weighed in the past was 6 to 8 lbs. so they were close to that. I still havent caught 1 of those 10 lb'ers yet but someday lol. The steelhead was 21in and the brown was 22.5in.

Great trout! I have access to rainbows and browns, but not fish that size.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

Nice fish beautiful color, a world record Brown Trout 41 + lbs was taken out of the Manistee river in Michigan, that was a real pig. We had an State record Steelhead Taken last year right out of were I live here in Ohio, I think it was 21+ lbs.

Thanks guys. They have been catching some 15lb browns out of there. Our state record for brown is 19lb 10oz our steelhead is 20lb 3oz. Some of them do grow up to be pigs. They put up a great fight. In my opinion the brown is a better fight. Never had to chase down a steelhead like I did with the brown.

Where are you fishing? Very nice fish. We have some that size in NC especially on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in a 2.2 mile section of the Raven's Fork designated as trophy waters, fly fishing only, catch and release. It cost $75 for a yearly permit and $10 a day to fish there. I went last weekend but the fishing was very tough. I only caught 2 average !0-14 inch fish the water was very, very low, but most of the time I catch some 20 to 28 inch fish, mostly rainbows. Anyway thanks for sharing. I hope to hear your whereabouts.

I fish lake erie's tributaries. They come up the creeks to spawn. We mostly got steelhead (rainbows) in the creeks but they started the brown trout program in 2008. So there finally comming up the creeks and bigger each year. Thats the first brown I caught. Hope to catch more of them and bigger 1s to. lol
