I have been so focused on bass fishing lately that I'm not even sure if I even remember how to catch a bluegill or crappie ha, but I just had a quick question. If I wanted to catch some panfish on a decent sized river in the fall, would I be better of in the main river near sea walls, riprap, bridges and what not, or in back waters?
I swear, it was this big (---------------------------------------)

IL - Right now the crappies are relating to brush piles, downed trees, etc. I would try for them with a small twister tail or a minnow and slip bobber. The gills should be in slack water areas where the water is a little warmer. Find the standing GREEN weeds in the back water areas and you should find some fish. Good luck.
Even if you've been fishing for three hours and haven't gotten anything except poison ivy and sunburn, you're still better off than the worm. - Author Unknown. Matt in Whitewater, WI.

If what 07 said doesn't work, try the bridges and rip rap.
