Well, I have been a police officer for 7 years now. I started right out of Highschool and have made day time Sgt. I started at the Police Department when I was 18 because I love to help people. Well, A few years into the job as night shift patrol, It started to wear on my body and my mind. In the first 3 years I witnessed several people commit suicide right in front of me and witnessed several life taking accidents. I believe in Jesus Christ and it took lots of prayers to over come the stuff that I have encountered. I have always fished as a young child but always had to go alone because of my dad's job as a full time pastor, he was limited on time to take me. It was the spring of 2007 when I hooked my first 10 1/2 lb large mouth. I thought that was pretty good due to the fact that I studied how to fish off of the internet and received several emails on different kind of rigs. As I fished on my off days from working, I learnt that it was so relaxing and refreshing to see how big Gods hand really is to not only create beautiful lakes, but to create fishermen like you all and myself. It is crazy how a 12 hour shift loads tons of weight on me but then as soon as I get off of work and wet a hook, I forget about all the negative parts of life. I do not make alot of money and have never nor will I probably ever fish huge lakes or have the nicest equipment but my aspect of it all is if it floats, it is good enough to fish in, and if the lure works, use it. Thanks to all of you guys that love fishing enough to read this post and to start up a site where fishermen can come and learn and share tips and life stories. God Bless

Thank you for your unselfish service my friend. If you'd like to "meet" some great fishing folks, please visit www.outdoor-fishing.com. We have a terrific forum and expert lure fabricators there & love to talk with other fishermen, discuss tactics, techniques, and general shooting the breeze. Outdoor-Fishing is sponsored by N.A.F.C.  Happy fishing!

I thank you too for your service to mankind. Having been a Security guard for 12 1/2 yrs, I too suffered some of the same things you have. I love fishing and on most of my days off I went somewhere to relax and gain back piece of mind. Having a friend along helps sometimes even better, but sometimes it pays to fish alone.

Dad was an officer in Detroit and I know it was tough on my Mom not knowing if he'd come home or not. He took us fishing on vacations, and he caught the 2nd biggest fish on the Detroit River when i was 4 or 5 years old. I think fishing might be the great equalizer.

I always thought one of the most relaxing things in the world was standing in a stream, feeling the water around your feet and legs and hearing the wind in the trees. Things are just different then.

I don't think any sport can compare to, or be as relaxing as Fishing. Many times just being out on a creek, fishing from a boat or off the bank, or low water bridge & seeing nature and its wonders is more than enough to me instead of a limit of fish.

    Thanks Darron,
I know at times your job is not appreciated by some, but know there are plenty of us out here that care.

I have to agree. There is something about getting into my boat and being on the water. It just takes you into another world for awhile.
