Ever find yourself just going by the book with tackle selection? Nice weather...large crankbait or spinnerbait, cold front...worm, jig, or tube. I think the bass where I fish have seen this scenario played out so many times that they're wise to it. I thought, how about a smaller, slower presentation, but keep the "thump" of a large, fast moving bait! Here's what to do: Take one of those Booyah Pond Magic spinnerbaits(the little 3/16oz. one) and remove the small willowleaf blade. Replace it with a large Colorado blade(about the size used on a 3/8oz. bait). Add a trailer hook, and now you're up over 1/4oz. but in a compact package. Now you have enough weight for long casts and you won't believe how slow you can pull this thing. You can even keep it on top at this slow speed...this has been deadly where I'm fishin'. In super clear water, that big blade might be too much flash. A dark colored blade may be needed for that. Give it a try, and let me know how it works.
