Pour me a good stiff drink to drown my woes

In the summer I fish this one pond that is LOADED with small and I mean small gills. So many that you don't even fish for them, just catch. This pond also has some of the biggest bass I have ever caught. So I start out for bass first. I have a yum plastic on a carolina rig on one pole and a jig with a chiggar craw on the other. The wind is really blowing so it is hard to line watch. But finally I feel the little tick on the end of the line and set the hook. Got him on, well for all of about 8 seconds. Good enough for a bull ride I guess. Nothing else for awhile, so I go over to the gills spot and start catching a bucket full of little ones to put in the pond where we have the kids fishing derby. I am pulling a gill in when I see a big bass flash at it. I grab the carolina rig and toss it out. It is not long before I feel the twitch twitch. I set the hook and Oh Yea I got me a big en. She comes crashing out of the water, slinging her head around. holy cow this could be a fish Ohio. Next thing I know my lure is spit back at me. %%$%&^&&**%$$^&**(( Back to gill fishing. Not too much later I see a big swirl acroos the channel where a bass is chasing bedding gills. Throw the carolina rig again. She picks it up and I set the hook. Ok got it this time, but I better give it another hook set to make sure. PING the line breaks )*(*^%#$^*( Zero for 3, I give up on the bass tonight. Oh well I got about 40 to 50 gills for the kids to catch

Something is usually biting in this pond. Most evenings between 5 and 7 I can find a bass feeding on the many little bluegills in there.

A little revenge, a little humility. Went back out to that pond again tonight. I had a senko on one rod and a stone jig/chiggar craw on the other. After about 15 minutes or so I get a hit on the senko. Set the hook and latch onto a nice bass. Left the net over a ways , so I had to work the bass over to it. Finally get her in the net. At last got one on the bank. Put the stick on it and it measures out to 19 inches. So I go around the corner and make a few casts. No takes. Make a couple casts with the stone jig and something picks it up. Set the hook and oh yea it is on. It is pulling drag and bending my pole. As Ike would say " IT's A GIANT" !! It comes out of the water a couple times and I can see it is way bigger than the 19 incher I caught. This has got to be my fish ohio bass. I try to walk it back a few feet to grab the net and " PING line breaks" not again. Big bass and my only stone jig gone in a flash . Guess it is time to restring the rod with an upgrade for the big sows in this pond

Hey Guys ! Went after the beast last evening, but could not find her. Probably still swimming around with my jig in her mouth.
