I just purchased a Lure Jensen Jet Diver 20 to fish for trout in a clear small TVA lake. Does anyone have suggestions or tips on this piece of tackle? The jet diver has one clear hole with a snap on top but the rest of the holes seem to be filled or do you push or drill the other holes out or forget about it and just use from the package. The package and what I have read say there are three holes on top for further adjusments. I don't get it.  Any nuts and bolts kind of suggestions or tips are welcome. I have been to LJ website but I find guys who really fish these kinds of things really know what is going on. I would like to use mostly 1/4 oz. spoons at about 20 feet.

The ones I use have a hole on the top to go to the rod and 2 or 3 on the bottom, typically I use the 30 and 40 jets to run anywhere from 20 to 30 feet. I know line size and type makes a difference and in order to get to the labeled depth I.E jet 30 you need to go about 100 feet back. I don't like to run all my lines that far back so I usually will buy the 30 to run 20 feet and so on. You also want to use the back hole on the bottom with the longest leader your rods will alllow and still be ablle to land the fish easily. If you look online there are probably charts for diffierent size jets and different type and size line, this is all information you should collect to use them effectively. I have personally not used Jets for Salmon fishing but don't see why they would not work. We use them very successfully for walleye.

The Precision trolling Big Water Edition is very helpful as a reference for all kinds of controlled depth trolling. Unfortunatly my copy is currently in storage with my buddy's boat so I can't send you any of the charts. It is a worthwhile investment though.
