IM thinking of using some spider wire in the saltwater, Someone said that the salt would stay in the line and mess my reel up...

Is using spiderwire in slatwater a good idea?

Just about any line is porous at the microscopic level, especially mono. Line absorbs water while fishing, so if fished in saltwater, its going to absorb some. Just rinse off your equipment with freshwater when you're done fishing...which you should be doing anyway.

Always give your gear a good hosing off with a strong stream of water after salt water use.
