Anyone have or use a potable areator such as the ones made by Frabill? I'm thinking of picking one up to use to keep bunker aka Menhaden alive to use for Stripedbass fishing. The best way to catch trophy bass is to "live line" bunker. My boat doesnt have a livewell so what I was thinking of using is my cooler which is under my console seat. Keep in mind adult bunker can get up to 12 to 15 inches or so..not sure of the exact size of the cooler, but it can probably hold around 6 or so adult size bunker without over crowding them. Any reviews or ideas or better ones would be appreciated...Thanks Vito Barresi
PS. I dont want to hard wire anything, portable is the way to go for me.

Hey Barresi, I have the Frabill areated minnow bucket and it works great. It runs on 2 Dcell batteries and they lasted all season last year. What you would want for your boat is one of their larger models.

Vito: Do you have a power outlet/cigar lighter on your boat? I doubt one of the d cell Frabill aerators will pump enough air for bait that large but there are some 12v pumps you could wire to a lighter style plug that would do the job.

Why jimmy rig it? Frabill makes bigger ones that plug into cigarette lighters.

Yeah I have a power outlet on the boat, it's up top in my electronics compartment right below my T-top...I perfer battery operated because It would be really difficult to plug in it from that location. I also thought about getting a portable bait pen, but that's good if your not moving around or just drifting. Not so good if your moving around from spot to spot.

My aerator is a low volume bilge pump with pvc tubing and elbows so that the tubing rises right above the pump and water surface. Cap the tubing at the top and drill holes around the edge of the cap. Water will flow out and spray over the surface of your live well aerating and circulating the water. I plug mine into my power outlets on the boat.
