I see a lot of topic's about how these forms are going "Dead".

And how before the "Update", There was a lot of people on this form?


And the NAFC Facebook has over 50k Like's?   And there is maybe 50 - 100 regulars.

So what happened to this site?

No one really knows. Some people just come and go that's the nature of things. In summer, the site is usually slow because everyone is out participating in recreational activities and in the winter it seems to pick up a bit because everyone is trapped inside due to the cooler external temperatures. Many of the members on THIS site are not "Facebookers" for whatever personal reasons or personal preferences so they choose to come here. Aside from the glitches and the occasional psycho path or grumpy Gus, I believe this site has a lot to offer! It is great for exchanging fishing and or boating information, meeting and chatting with new people, or using the forums to gather other members input on various topics.

Well, I suppose I've done my share of wondering why so few are here...but after much consideration I've concluded that I'm having a good time without them! The few that are here are my FRIENDS, and that's good enough for me!

I started visiting the forums about 4 years ago and there are many folks who were regulars here that no longer participate for one reason or another. Some of these people I still correspond with and the reason I normally hear for an absence is the fact that the site has become slow and more difficult to use. Pillman might remember how easy it was to post a picture before all the "improvements" began! It seems to me that the club's IT guys are devoting all their energy to the Facebook page rather than the forums. Not being a Facebook user, I can't say for certain but I was told that the forums were one of the membership benefits and now the club seems to be trying to replace this with a Facebook page open to anyone!

cq, i have a facebook account but i'm rarely on it. those people can have it. about all its good for is getting a quick message to more then 1 person if need be

when i 1st started coming here 4 or 5 years ago. this place was just jumping with people posting all the time. some of them we are better off without and glad their gone. but many friendships have been made here and allot of people have gone fishing in places that they never dreamed about going to until they met with someone one here.

Good point Bill, I have had offers to go and fish in great places all over the nation...I really wish I had the opportunity to go...kinda tied to home right now...maybe in the future. I like to read the stories about the members that do get to hook up, never heard ANYONE say they went home disappointed.
                                              

I'm still waiting for my first opportunity to hook up with some fellow members. Most of that is my fault- if finances were better I could head to La Crosse for the meet there. There is one member in Michigan who has an uncanny knack for scheduling a weekend in Chicago at a time when I have a prior commitment. Last time he came to town I had to be in Kansas for a graduation party. Sooner or later the stars will align.

pegsguy, i do know what yer saying about finances and such. i have the same problem too. most of the time its me having ta work or as this past yr. was like. just to damn much stuff happening.
i have several outings i would love ta go to. but just haven't yet....la crosse and finger lakes are a couple of them.....at least i made it to 1 of ohio chapters shinding when i was living there...and i had allot of fun

another thing thats good about this is ya can ask a few ? about a lake in an area and if there is someone here that has fished it or lives near it....most of the time will till ya a thing er 2 about whats there, where ta go and what ta use

so when are ya coming thru here so we can get together and get a few pike??????
