ariess: Think about stream trout fishing. Even in northern state there are streams that stay open for at least part of the winter, and in some places they're designated for winter fishing, catch-and-release, barbless-only. Small minnowbaits work well. Check out this opportunity where you live.

Yea, I am based in NYC and really would love to take a trip up to salmon river. On long island there are some trout/steelhead streams that I'd like to winter fish too.
