So with the new year upon us, brings new hopes of an up and coming productive fishing year. My new tactic which I will be concentrating on this spring is to catch my own bait. I recently picked up an 8ft "true spread" bait casting net for catching Menhaden, aka bunker. Bunker is the primary forage for Striped Bass and Blue Fish. So my tactic for this year is to live line bunker, in hopes to land that trophy striper. I also am having a saltwater spinner bait being custom built, for big Stripers and Blues that I want to give a try. These baits are going to be big, about the size of big musky spinners. Once I get them I will post a pic. So those are my 2 new tactics for the up coming year. Let's hear yours...Happy New Year everyone!! Vito |

Hey Jim, Im from NYC..Queens, I fish Jamaica Bay, and on calm days I venture out to the ocean to my local reef, 2miles offshore...I fish for Stripers, Blues, weakfish, fluke, flounder, Porgies, blackfish, basically whatever is in season...

Well...my plan for 2012 is to learn to analyze the lake better...to be able to find the pattern faster, and spend less time searching, and more time catching. I would also like to improve on my pb bass. I know where they are, just have to get them to play along! |

Ive been practicing with a casting net, And the captin i have been hanging out with showed me what mullet schools look like, There pretty good bait for redfish, Flounder. Also, My dream for 2012 is 1. To catch a 36in wing span stingray (I have been catching 2 or 3 each time i go fishing). 2. to catch a nice big redfish, and 3. To work on a fishing charter. |

I'd just like to fish more than I did last year. I sure hope the weather is better.

Throwing nets are pretty easy once you get the hang of it, But once you throw one from land... I have to throw them off a moving boat with moving fishing while within a small space |

I agree with with mo. I want to spend less time on unproductive water. |
