It is a tiny feeder that empties in a much larger stream. Typically no fish hang out in the bigger stream down this low in the bigger stream because the temperature is typically too warm for trout . This tiny stream meets the big stream and lowers the stream temps and the trout migrate for miles to this intersection and yes the intersection is “secret” as secrets go and I have caught many big trout there.

Do you have any spring feeders you should check out in the early season and the dog days of summer? The spring temperature is a constant and trout will go there in cold early season for the warmer water and in the warm summer months for cooler and more oxygen rich water the cool “secret” stream supplies.

    Photobucket

One of my "secret streams" in the greater La Crosse area.  Nice stream, has a short trib that feeds it. Located smack dab in the middle of private property that I have permission to fish because I take care of the guys lawn and cabin while he's away.  By the time anybody wades to it, they either have their limit, eaten by bugs, or simply give up and walk away.

I've caught a ton of nice trout out of here.

Now that the reality of winter has set in, and I've ice fished now for the last 30+ days practically in a row, I'm starting to get the itch for spring trout fishing.

Thanks for starting this thread Len!

There really are no secret streams...the disclaimer above covers it. As secrets go
