I use 30lb power pro braid for all my light inshore fishing. Braid has virtually zero stretch and you can feel everything, even the slightest taps. The diameter is a lot smaller, which means you can load more line on your reel and it's twice as strong as mono, and it sinks fast, cuts through the water column. I've tried different brands of braid, I prefer Power Pro. |

Oh boy...how do I answer this? I have many lines that I use. In braid there's Power Pro, Fireline, and Tufline XP. Then for mono I use Trilene XL, Big Game, and Big Cat. Last, but not least, I use Trilene 100% flourocarbon.

I'm old school. I use Stren monofiliment in 8, 10, and 12 pound test on my bass baitcast and spinning rigs, Trilene XT monofiliment in 17 pound test on my channel cat rig, and Offshore Angler Spectra braid in 80 pound test on my flathead cat rig. I use braided nylon backing in 20 pound test under the fly line on my fly reels. I'm just comfortable with monofiliment, it's inexpensive, and I use a lot of surface lures and mono floats, where braid and fluorocarbon sink.

I use mono exclusively. All my set-ups are spinning gear. I use 6# Trilene XLfor bass, 6# Trilene Sensation for walleye, 4# Trilene XL for panfish and 10# and 17# Trilene XL for cats. Trilene has served me well for several decades so I have no need to change to the fancy more expensive lines. |

I've been a mono guy for most of my life. I had a reel spooled with spiderwire when it came out, but I wen't back to mono for most of my fishing. One of the selling points for braid is no stretch. I was missing hookups with crankbaits and didn't like the action of my topwater baits. I guess I needed more practice with it, but I perfer mono. I don't ever have problems breaking off, just remember to retie after a couple fish. I do like flipping and pitching jigs with braid so I have one reel spooled up with it, but most of my reels have mono. As for flourocarbon, I've still never tried it. |

Been using Trilene for many years 4# 6# 8# and 10# test. I have tried many different lines over the years but prefur mono over the braids. I agree with Wifisher, no need to change.

It is easy for me to understand why these guys all like mono...I use a bunch of it myself. I use it for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, topwater, my cat rods and my crappie rods. I love braid for soft plastics. I don't have any reels spooled with flourocarbon, but I use it for leaders with braid. With KVD always talking about how flouro has improved his crankbait fishing, I'm going to give that a try this spring. |

Unfortuneatly there is no universal line that works in every application. Most of my fishing is done in stained water or other low clarity situations so line choice is not critical. I use a fused braid like Fireline for this. I do fish one gin clear quarry and when fishing there I use either fluoro or something with a fluoro leader. The only reason I don't use more mono is stretch. Seems I miss too many light hits with it. |

I prefer a 10-12lb test on a med action rod. keep in mind I'm a big Bass and Cat fisherman. I mainly fish ponds and occasionally rivers. Hope this helps. :-) |
