Just a reminder to be extra careful this year. As I write this divers are searching Pistakee Bay near me for and ice fisherman reported to have gone through the ice last night. After this amount of time a happy ending doesn't seem likely. Areas that held 6-10" of ice a week ago can be as thin as 2" now. This unusually warm weather is affecting many areas of the country and the Alaska coast seems to be paying the price!

Unforuneatly, the angler in question did not survive, his body was recovered about 100' from where he fell in. Turns out he was fishing alone after dark. I feel sorry for the rescue divers that had to spend the time in the cold water looking for him. My sympathy also goes out to his family.
