This past Saturday, we traveled up into the Sierra's for an advanced rod building class and awards dinner for a fly fishing club my family belongs to. Between the morning class and the evening dinner, we were able to get on the water and Czech-nymphed a bit for some local rainbows. Fishing was tough (I found out later that other members were skunked this day), but my daughter, Michelle, was able to score on a feisty rainbow within 10 minutes. I just had hand surgery, so I wasn't able to fish or even enter the water for fear of slipping. So, she did quite well on her own. Daddy's just there to take the photos, I guess. She tied on a size 24
tiger midge and a size 16 gold beaded hare's ear nymph, both which I
tied earlier. Wife was fishing just above us and even though she had a couple of takes, she went empty handed this day.
