Rain rain go away. It didn't, but I still caught some fish. 1 green sunfish, used it for bait after cutting off the head. One small bass, then a bluegill, another small bass, then a bass so small it was shorter than my middle finger. Next, outweighing them all combined and then 2-3 times larger a flathead on the green sunfiish's head. Cast out again after releasing the cat with the middle section of the green sunfish and had to get off the dock due to lightning. When it died down, my line was all over and I'd lost a cat. Overall ok night. |

Yesterday my cousin, his step dad and I went to Indian Lake and really got into the crappie and bluegills. Caught somewhere around 200 fish in all, keeping about 50 of them. Legal crappie is 9 inches. We had to measure most of them. We had some that were over 10 but most ranged 8 3/4 to 9 1/2 . So there was alot of sorting going on. But what a day. Sometimes we would have 3 on at a time. |

Yep ! You got that right. With the weather getting colder and wetter and windier , it's time to eat on them. I took advantage of the last Indian summer day yesterday, even though the wind was really blowing and fished a friend's pond. The water got super clear this fall in it and the fish got spooky, but did manage to catch 4 bass, 1 big catfish and a handfull of bluegills. |

Since Sandy took down the stock exchanges, I took Tuesday off. Way back in 2001, I swore to myself that if the market closed for any reason, I wouldn't waste time watching news, but I'd go out and fish. So Tuesday was my day. I got onto the lake shortly before 2 and fished until 5. I caught 6 fish. 5 wipers and one catfish. I also saw a bald eagle, which is fun, because we don't see them very often in this part of the country. ![]() http://s127.beta.photobucket.com/user/rodrigo_santeria/media/IMAG0190.jpg.html The fish above was 22 inches and the first of the day http://s127.beta.photobucket.com/user/rodrigo_santeria/media/IMAG0191.jpg.html This was the last of the day, everything that I caught was on this lure. I brought 4 rods and a heavy tackle bag, but all I needed was this lure and one rod.
Once upon a time I could put pictures in here. Screw it. |

Well...here it is...November... ...turkey time again. While you guys are sitting in a tree stand or watching football...I'm still at it. Made one mistake though...I need to trade my cooler full of ice cold water for a thermos full of coffee. |

Something new happened to me today. The first weird thing was I caught another yellow perch at Lake Lotawana. This is the second yellow perch I've ever caught at this lake & it's the body of water I've fished the most since I was old enough to hold a fishing pole. I also caught a crappie and a bluegill, which I cut up and used for bait. So here's the new thing. I fish broke my fishing pole. Everything was normal. I cut off the bluegill's head and put it on the hook. I cast out and stuck the base of the rod in the post on the dock. I checked every twenty minutes, but when I went down to the water the last time, no rod was in the holder. I'm fishing with 20# spiderwire and I cranked down the drag, because not many fish will break off that line in this lake. So here's where things became weird. The handle broke. It was right under the reel foot. Not where there was pressure from the post, nor the screw where you lock down the front of the reel foot, but in the middle. I was using an old fiberglass Diawa bass rod and when I looked into the water, the reel was sitting on the bottom, the rod was floating in the boat well and the fish was presumably still attached. I couldn't reach the rod, so I had my uncle watch it while I searched for something to pull it closer to me. While I was gone the fish began swimming again and my uncle was able to reach down and grab the rod. When I got back I pulled the reel up, took the rod, jammed the reel foot into the front clamp and began cranking. The fish had wrapped the line around something, or under something, I don't know, but I know it was able to cut the spiderwire after pulling line up and cranking back down. I'll try to include a picture of the broken rod. |

Rodrigo, that's a story you can pass down to the grandkids someday. AS far as the perch in the lake. Count your blessing if they get started good in there. Perch are the best eating fish in the world !! |

We got another nice little mess of Crappies yesterday. Time is running out for us soon I think. It's getting close to having to winterize the boat. |

No no no. Global warming is good, but if winter does come, well winterizing is probably a good thing. |

I caught about 8 wipers today. I fished from 11-4 and all the fish came right around 1pm. I was also checked for my fishing license today, which may be the first time in my life. Went through all the stuff. I need to put a whistle in the boat, but no fines or tickets. |

Yesterday was one of those days when we weren't fishing. It was just plain catching. We either caught a fish or missed one on about every cast. We figured we caught between 200 and 300 crappie and bluegills. Threw back the majority. We kept about 60 nice ones, with more crappie than gills. |
