9 crappie, then I decided to try the other side of the pond. Nada, nothing, zilch. When they're on, just keep casting until it stops. |

So I check the weather and look outside. Light rain. I drive to a pond that used to be bass magic, but was fished out. When I arrive it's pouring down rain, so I take a 20 minute nap. It's still pouring, I put my rain gear on and take one pole rigged w a black 1/16th gopher mushroom jig dressed with a 1" pearl and black shad minnow. I super glued it to the hook. It continues to pour down rain. The rain runs down the inside of my so called rain coat, but I begin to catch fish. After crappie #8, somebody in the pond nips off my lure's paddle tail, but if I go back to the car, I'm just going to go home. Fish 9-12 are far more difficult to catch, but after a while number 12 comes in and I head back to the car. It's still raining, but I'm feeling good because I've caught some fish and the heater is turned all the way up. |

I got little shoe thing for my cast last week and got permission to start putting some weight on my leg. Decided to take advantage and go to a local park on the Willamette River. A few bites, but no takers, but it sure didn't matter much. I'm not chasing Steelhead again yet, but it won't be long (2 weeks maybe) JustDave |

WTG Dave, don't let those pesky crutches get in the way of what's really important. |

Nope, didn't go fishing today, but I can already tell this is going to be a really popular thread.
I did, however, go fishing on Sunday. I ended up catching two Redhorse, one measuring 18" and the other measured 22". |

I caught 5 Crappie below the Dam at Harry S. Truman Res. on 3/15/12. All were FEMALES full of eggs!!! The big rocks warm up below that dam and fish spawn earlier there than on the lake itself. Seen Walleye, White Bass, and several other species get caught as well. |

Boy...today was interesting. Dad and I first went to Paint Creek Reservoir for some crappie action, but found the reservoir still at winter pool level, and the water still just a little cool. We decided to go to a small lake down the road in search of better conditions. It paid off as we found Pike lake swelled with warm spring runoff and the fish a little more active. The first photo shows the mudline we fished...all fish today came from right on this line...dad got 4 crappies and a few 'gills...I got 6 bass. The second photo shows his crappies, the third is my biggest bass of the day. The crappies were caught on minnows, and the bass fell to a Cotton Cordell red Suspending Super Spot. |
