Wow...look at all the lunkers! The guyz are really catching them. Here's another bass I stuck...probably my best this season. Check it out Wellsley, its T-shirt weather!

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

I've been trying to get out, lately, but I can't seem to find the time.

The carp are at the height of spawning in one creek that I regularly fish.

Here's the video I took there two weeks ago:

The carp weren't feeding as actively as they usually do, so I only caught a few, small specimens.

Hope you all enjoy!

Well it wasn't today but a buddy from Indiana was out last week.  Took him up to the John Day Pool of the Columbia River to fish with my buddy Matt.  We got a few Walleye, a Sucker, Clam, and a Rock for our trip.  95 degrees with no wind made it an interesting day.  Here's my boys with a 12 pounder we released after the photo.

Sorry, that didn't work.

Went out yesterday on my bicycle to a new fishing spot.  I didn't think the action would be all that great, but I did end up catching four decent sized bass, with the largest one pushing twenty inches.  I have photos of three of them on my website (one too longer than usual to unhook, so I decided not to take a picture) and I'll include a link here:

The photos from yesterday's trip are the last three.

The plan was to go water skiing w the kids this morning and fish after they left for work. The forecast said 59* and last weekend the surface of the lake was 59*. My daughter elected to sleep, and my son seconded the idea. At 10:30pm I got the boat ready and I was in bed by midnight. Up at five, but I couldn't get out of the house until 5:35. The fishing was great. Lots of fish. One of those days after 30 minutes you just know you don't need to count fish, because they're coming in readily. I bought some Arkie Lures Crappie Crankbait, Diver, Black Shiner because it was similar in size to the old discontinued Rapala Rattlin' fat rap RFR-4 CH 5/16oz. The cool thing was the Rapalas cost around $5 but the Arkies cost $2.56 and catch the fish just as well. One thing, the Rapala had one size larger treble hooks. Let's see if I can get the picture posted.

So the top is the Rapala, the bottom is the Arkie. The Arkie works really well, due to the small hook size, I was worried that I'd miss larger fish. I may put a larger hook on the back, because it caught bluegill, green sunfish, crappie, bass, yellow perch, and walleye. I'm going to eat walleye and perch tonight from a recipe in an old In Fisherman. Anyway, I thought I'd mention this tiny little crankbait, because it caught most of my fish. One bad thing. A six in bluegill can get all three of the rear hooks in it's mouth. It's tough to get those hooks out w/o damaging the fish's mouth.

Treble hooks and Bluegill don't go together.  I've had a similar problem as the one you described with the Rebel Bumble Bug, which almost constantly has all three points of the treble lodged in the fish's mouth at once.  There is a shortcut to removing the hook, however.  This method also takes two people, so make sure you have someone to assist you.  First, have your friend pry open the Bluegill's mouth, so maximum gape is achieved.  Then, take your pliers or hemostats and gently put them through the gill slits.  All you have to do is tug backwards on the hook and have your friend pull it out simultaneously.  This method will work 100% of the time, but you need to take caution not to injure the fish's gills, which can lead to serious loss of blood.

Looks like everyone is catching em now. Way to go. We had a really good week also catching lots of panfish, a few catfish and a few bass that have hit our panfish jigs.
