Son and I went out the other day and only got 2 white bass and 2 turtles (red ear sliders). Let em all go. It was great to just get out on the lake.

Hey Wellsley...what is that?
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

Not sure..can't really tell from the pic, but it looks like the American Eel..they live in freshwater, and spawn in saltwater...they are popular up in Wellsleys neck of the woods in the Hudson river and its tributaries.

yep it's an eel. Slimy %*@!+*#. It wrapped itself around my arm when I unhooked it. Tried to get my wife to hold it so I could take a pic but she refused.

Wow! you guys have been doing great. I haven't been checking the thread, because I didn't think I'd be fishing, but yesterday after we put in my Mom's ski boat, I got to fish. Only ity bity greeen sunfish at first, then I finally put on a black soft plastic w a chartreuse paddle tail, and the crappie were on. Just about every cast straight out from shore, count it down 6-10 seconds and reel very slowly then set the hook. It was great, I wanted to go back today, but it's been pouring down rain. Anyway, I saw a bunch of 3+ LMBs cruising shallow and assumed they were nesting, because they wouldn't leave an area. I caught one LMB but he was less than a pound. Somebody bit off my paddle tail, then my son called and said we needed to eat. A great day. Here's hoping for next weekend. BTW you guys have been doing great. Keep up the good work.

I fished Sunday afternoon. Light rain, light crappie bite, but I caught a bunch. One was so small it was only about 2.5 inches. I was having a lot of fun despite the rain, but when it thundered, I thought "One more cast." While I was reeling it in there was a crack of lightning, accompanied by thunder and I headed to the car in a hurry. As long as I'm alive I'll get to fish another day!

Seneca 5/03/2012  Shake down

Today was the day I got out on Seneca for the first time with Stan’s dog King. At the launch some time before noon 30 things went OK was not sure how King was going to act. He was first RATE from launch time , time on the water and again when we came in……….just like he been doing it for years….LOL……………most things went OK found a few things that need to be taken care of and ONE I still have not figured out……….when starting main motor , it sounds like the battery is almost dead , then it turns over fine. I cleaned up all the connections on the  side of the motor , will have to go over the ones on the battery again and check the main ground wire……………..anyway didn’t do well with the fish but lucked out with a 18.5” pushing 4# brown and missed one……………………stayed close with how thick the fog was and first time out………..my wiring job on both of the riggers I put short stops on over the winter didn’t work right hope it’s just bad switches have new ones coming from fish307 …………switched the 788ci out to use as GPS and went with the 798 HD si……got both of them working good by the end of my outing……………..still have to look into why the Narvonic map is so far off…… got back in clean up fish came inside wash it up a tad more open cupboard up looking for BROWN sugar to coat trout ………NONE I left it home……..D.S. oh well I guess I’ll coat with breading and deep fry…………………….

I'm glad that's over with time for a nappy............

It's always a good feeling getting the shake down cruise out of the way. Congrats on the Brown.

Some things never change...I have yet to do a shake-down this year. The new trolling motor is almost done!

Holy Buckets!! Went to pike lake today...and the bite was ON! I was kind of disappointed when I first got there, the water was really stained from heavy rains, but it didn't take me long to realize muddy water was not a problem. I caught 26 bass...most 14 and 15 inchers...still no big girls yet. Below are pics of some of the better ones. The first pic is the biggest one, probably 18 inches, but the tape was back in the van. The variety of lures in their mouths proves they were hitting about anything that I tossed in...but the best producer of the day was a Yum Mightybug. Second goes to the squarebill cranks. The last photo is my thumb...happily torn up!
