Has anybody tried the new alabama rig? I want to hear from some people so i can decide if i should get one or not. I've heard they're petty darn good but that came from pros that endorse the product.

Haven't tried it, probably won't. What's next, tying nets to 200 lb. braid? If you can't catch fish with a single lure, find a new sport. It should be banned in my opinion.

The Alabama rig is more of different tactic. A different way of catching fish. Umbrella rigs work very well and efficiently in saltwater to catch Strip Bass, Blue fish and whole bunch of other pelagic species. I've never tried it, but I would imagine this castable version of an umbrella rig would work. If the pro's are saying it works, I would tend to believe that it does if fished under the right conditions. The only way your going to know is if you get one and fish it. Just stay away from the low end Alabama rigs. Remember, you get what you pay for.

I got one just to try out, one more thing in the box. I can’t see using it all the time, but I’ll give it a shot at some point.

Indiana is allowing the alabama rig on a temporary basis, my fishing partner has one and hasn't caught a fish on it yet. Although where I live it's still a little early.

To me the rig seems somewhat stupid. However, I hear it works for some people. I rather get a bunch of lures for 20 bucks instead of buying one rig for 20 bucks.

I believe in IL the statute is you can’t have more than 2 hooks per line too. One hook gets the job done

it`s up to your own feelings personally i`m fishing for the enjoyment so i don`t think it would make me enjoy it anymore if i caught 5 at a time or only one

Honestly, I don't fish waters big enough for that kind of setup, and I wouldn't even use one for the huge lake down the highway. First of all, because it's illegal in my state, and second I agree with thefishman, it doesn't leave enough to skill in my opinion. I have been wondering, however, how something besides 5 swimbaits would work. Like I could maybe see a smaller version coming onto the market made for 5 Rooster Tails or maybe even 5 spinnerbaits. I'd be interested to see how that would work out.

Anyone seen the latest entry in the "Alabama rig" saga?  http://www.lurenet.com/internet-spe...-double-up  This one should be legal just about anywhere.

Wait a minute, I've seen that dual rig like years ago somewhere. LOL.

Now if I just chain a few of them together...heh heh heh...
