    Hey guys,

I finally decided to invest in a yak. But I am torn between the Ascend Fst12 sit-on-top angler and Fs10 sit in angler. They sell them at Bass Pro.

I will be fishing mostly ponds but will occasionally fish some lakes.

Have any of you used these yaks?

    Which one is better?

    Thanks and keep fishin’

Basswhisper, I was also looking into these kayaks but I pulled the trigger and went with a Wilderness System Tarpon 100. I did price comparison and checked reviews and I got the tarpon for the same price and the reviews are out of this world for the Tarpon series. I would tell you to look at Tarpon first and then go get a yak. Also the Tarpon offers the rail system to modify your yak. You don't have to drill on the boat and just slide the rod holders and fish finder onto your rail with an adapter. I can go on but I hope you look around first.

I also fish on lakes, rivers and ponds. I don't want to be shark bait in the Pacific Ocean.  Fear of the Great White!!!

I had a 9' 6" sit in, it was o.k. but knowing what I do now I'd get a sit on top and at least 12' long. The Tarpon 120 Angler would be good, but the 140 would be even better. The shorter boats tend to spin with very little effort (in a bad way) which is annoying when you're trying to fish.

Tarpons are awesome yaks. Remember, the shorter the boat the harder it is to paddle straight. Short just does not track too well. I would go with a sit on top also. Over. Along period of time on the. Water it will be more comfy. You can move around more on SOT'sto reposition your butt. I spend up to 10 hours on the water at a time and there is no way I could stay that long in my sit in boat. Goodluxk with whatever you end up with. Wear your PFD. We just lost a firefighter to the water here. He had his PFD on his kayak. They found it upside down, and his body at 150' a week later. Always think safety.

Ya i wound up getting the FST12. Very nice yak for the money. The only improvments from last years model was the seat, which is nice and they filled the hull with great stuff.

Hey you get what you pay for.

    Keep fishin'
