Anybody have any updates as to how the fish are biting on the Wolf? A friend and I are planning a trip there later this month in the latter part of the 3rd week of April and wondering if the latest cool weather has put a damper on the fishing. We have never been there before so I would also need to find a nice boat ramp. Mostly looking for white bass but don't really care what is biting. Is everything open on the wolf as far as catching and keeping fish? Are there any obstacles to worry about on the river itself such as stumps or rocks to hit?  Thanks for the help.

There is always Fremont if you want to fight the crouds. Dont know about the whites yet, I dont normally fish there. I mainly fish the Wisconsin below Nekoosa. Walleye are still spawning here. Whites come up after the eyes. I've been out the past 2 weeks and no whites being caught yet. If interested in the Fremont area, check out masbait.com (Ma's Bait).

I don't know much about the Lower Wolf around Fremont...but if it's anything like the Upper Wolf...you're going to see lots of rocks and fast changes in depth.

Speaking honestly...the only boats I would use would be a canoe or a jon.

There's a paved launch just north of Fremont in Mukwa...just south of south of New London. Here's the DNR page about it...

    http://dnrmaps.wisconsin.gov/imf/ex...strID=2228

Chances are you will have to Copy & Paste that link...as we've been having a difficult time with links on here

You might also consider giving the area DNR office a call...and try to find someone with knowledge of the area

Here's general bag limits for fish...but you may want to take a look in the regulations...as many areas have special limits.

    http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/fishing/dailybag.html

Here's a page for various .pdf files of this year's regs...

    http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/fishing/hookline.html

ALL the pdf's are the same on that page (d'oh!)  see page 70 of it for "Winnebago System Waters"

I did a Google Image Search for "Wolf River" + "Fremont, WI"....here's the results.

    http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Wolf+River%22+%2B+%22Fremont,+WI%22&hl=en&lr=&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=4R2CT6XRA4netgfH_vX1Bw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CB4Q_AUoAQ&biw=1152&bih=696

This campground is up near that Mukwa launch I mentioned...

    Good luck...& enjoy your trip

Here's a Google Satellite shot of the river in Fremont.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%22Wo...CDIQ_AUoAg

From what I'm seeing of the area pictures...you should be able to launch bassboats etc...in that section of the river.

There's a ramp at Gills Landing - Decker Memorial County Park Marina WEYAUWEGA, WI 54983 (715) 258-6243

That is just north of Fremont. Give them a call to confirm what the area is like
