Hi My name is Carl and I am new to the Brookfield, WI area and I just medically Retired from the military. I am looking to find someone who knows how to fish these lakes up here and who wants a fishing buddy on the weekend. I love to fish, but I have noone to fish with, nor do I even know where the good spots are to go fishing. I am use to saltwater fishing not freshwater fishing. Please e-mail me if you might be interested in hanging out and maybe making a new friend. E-mail address is carl.stewart4@yahoo.com.

First of all, Welcome to Wisconsin. You are on your way to learning a whole new way of fishing. I wish I could help you out but I live in the central part of the state. But here's a few tips to get you started. First you need to decide what species you want to target. You have a lot of choices living in the Milwaukee area. Probably the most popular for the area would be fishing the big lake for trout and salmon, either from a boat or shore. There are numerous piers to fish from in the area and they are productive. There are lakes that are not far from Milwaukee that are great bass lakes, northers and muskies.
If interested in fishing the big lake, just go down to some of the piers and check it out. Ask questions. Most fishermen are more than willing to help out. Just remember that if you pursue trout and such on the lake, you need to purchase a Great Lakes Stamp besides your regular fishing liscence.
Check out the Wisconsin DNR website. There actually is a great deal of info for fishermen, from shore fishing locations to lake maps online. Take some time to check out the site.
I hope this gets you a placeto start atl least. Good luck.

I live in Madison, which is west of you. Not far from your llocation is Pewaukee Lake. it is a very good Musky lake. I do not have any experience on that water. If you travel a little farther west you get into the Oconomowoc area. The lakes in this area are many and good fishing water for whatever specie you want to chase. Tight lines.
