My employer (a state agency) has a position on the local Reservoir Board. However, a new law requires that the board member actually be a property owner on the reservoir. I graciously volunteered to serve if they'd just buy me a house there - and a new bass boat (you know, just to "fit in"). Somehow, they didn't seem to want to go along with my offer. Think I should've just asked for a camping spot, aluminum boat, and trolling motor?
You should see the new rod and reel I got for my wife. I feel like it was a pretty good trade.

all you need is a small section of someone's lot to be a "property owner"
