THE WIFE & RELATIVES WERE UP FOR THE WEEKEND & DECIDED TO CLEAN MY FISHING GEAR SHED.  THEY FOUND AN OLD SOUTHBND 24-9 BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH A FREE STRIPPING NO. 50 FLY REEL MADE BY PERRINE MFG. CO. IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN.  I DON'T FLY FISH AND AM WONDERING ARE THESE ITEMS WORTH ANYTHING AND IF SO APPROX. HOW MUCH?  ARE THESE COMPANIES STILL IN BUSINESS?  OH ALSO MY FLY ROD IS IN AN ALUMINUM CASE WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE A BRASS COVER.  IS THIS PART OF A SET?  I FIND NO INFORMATION ON THE CASE.  ANY INFO WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.  THANK FELLOW MEMBER LARRY WOLKENHAUER.

Bass Fellow: There are numerous topics here in the forum. The best way to get a response is to post in the appropriate topic. In this case that would be "Tackle" or "Fly Fishing". Welcome to the club forums.

I also have a South Bend Bamboo rod, mine is a #59. I recieved information from the "vintage tackle" thread from www.outdoor-fishing.com. I checked and found that Perrine reels were amoung the best of the "automatics", Perrine is no longer in business, South Bend is.
