Finally got time to do some fishing and camping. Rolled into Lewey Lake Friday. Time I got all set up and put the boat in the water I was tired. So no fishing, but I did take the boat for a shake down cruise to make sure every thing was OK. Saturday morning I was on the water at 0530. NYSDEC insists there is Brown trout in this lake. So armed with downrigger and leadcore rig I was off to try to catch one. Trolled until 0830 nothing. Had breakfast, then Sue and I fished for bait for northern pike. I got one decent small mouth and a few perch. Sue caught several sunfish. Then the rain came. After the rain stopped we went back out and I caught a nice pike. Sunday morning I'm on the water by 0600 trolling for browns again. The lead-core fires but I lost it. Put it back out and in no time it fires again. Again I lost it. Put it back out and it fired again, this time when it did I throttled up its not getting away this time. No brown but a nice fight with that smallie. 20 minutes late I got another almost as big. The the downrigger went off, and no one home. I fished til 0900 and went 5 for 8 all smallies. Sue and I went out after breakfast and caught some rockbass before the rai{1}****. |

I just got back from fishing and camping at Lake Durant. My nephew and I arrived at the campground at 1300 Tuesday. Got camp set up and went out fishing shortly after 1500. We went after perch for bait. They were hard to come by, but we got 4 small keepers. I also caught a couple of bass 15 3/4" and 16 1/2". My wife, her mother and my son's dog showed up at 1700. Here is a pic of the dog. Now its late and I'm tired so I will finish this another time. He thinks he is a lap dog. |

Up early on the fifth, the fish were biting today. A silver rapala husky jerk did the trick. I caught two tiger musky's and a bunch of lg. mouths. They were hitting all day. Oh I almost forgot here is a pic for turnip. The sixth I didn't go out until seven because the fog was so thick. It didn't lift until after seven thirty. I caught a few fish but nothing worth saying. The seventh again out early I caught a few decent bass, no musky. I decided not to go out the morning of the eighth and packed up and went home. |

Recently got back from camping and fishing in Ticonderoga, NY. We fished Lake Champlain & Lake George. Started out last Saturday. Met up with fishing-eagle on his boat, fished Champlain out of Port Henry. We targeted Landlocks. Things went slow until about 0830 when we had a double. I got a real brute to the boat, but it spit the hook before it could be netted. I was able to net Fishing-eagles so we had one in the box. He brought several others to the boat that didn't measure up, so back in the water they went. Then finally I hooked one and got in the boat. In the box it went. Sunday Sue and I moved over to Rogers Rocks fishing in Lake George We caught a few bass but I had to work for them. Monday we spent the day fishing Lake Champlain south of Ticonderoga. I never caught a fish, but Sue caught several including this one. After a day of fishing we went out to dinner with her cousin and husband. It rained hard and the wind blew while we had dinner. We got back to the campsite to find the awning collapsed and ruined. Tuesday we spent on Lake George we caught several fish including a bullhead catfish, but nothing of any size. Wedesday morning I was on the water just after 0500. As I was netting a small laker the net hit one of the rods in the rod holder and snapped it. (brand new rod). We packed up and headed home, dropped the camper off to have a new awning put on it. Then about 20 minutes from home had a flat tire with the boat trailer. Next trip is to Black Lake |

Just got back last night from Black Lake, ny. The weather was very hot and humid. Didn't do alot of fishing, it was just to hot. But we did manage to catch some fish. I know it's small but it's the biggest crappie I've caught. It seems to be the year for Personal Best for me and not numbers. While pike fishing I nailed this 29" catfish. (another PB) |

Nice job. Those cats fight quite a bit differently than pike, I'd guess. |

The second trip this year to Lake Durant was very successful for bass, but only caught one tiger musky. Arrived there Friday at 1300. Set up camp in the rain. Then decided to put the rain suit on and try my luck at fishing. I managed to catch enough perch for bait for saturday. Then went after bass and musky. A couple of bass before dark. Back to camp, dinner then to bed early. Up early the next morning on the water just after day light. Saturday turn out to be the day on the water. Even though it rained off and on the bass were biting. If I was keeping them I would have limited out and then some. All went back in the lake. I came back in for lunch and it rained harder, went to town stopped at a few garage sales and got gas for the truck. When I got back to camp it had stopped raining but looked like it would rain any second. So I went down by the dam and fished from shore. I caught three more bass and a few sunfish. Back out on the lake at 1630 a few more bass before calling it quits for the night. My buddy showed up at about 2200 to spend a couple of days fishing. Sunday morning found us on the water shortly after 0600. I caught a few bass before we came in for lunch nothing for my buddy. He took a knap after lunch and I went and took a shower. 1630 we are back on the water. He got a couple small bass, I got one 17"er and that was to be the last one for me on the trip. Monday found us on the water at 0630 I got a few pan fish, while my buddy ended up with 4 bass the largest 16.5". Here is the pic of the tiger musky (20") and a 20" bass. |

Hi all, We just got back last night from the Thousand islands region of the St. Lawrence River. We arrived there Monday afternoon. The weatherman was calling for all day rain on Tuesday so I didn't put the boat in. Tuesday came and sure enough it rained. We took a tour of singer castle. Wednesday put the boat in went fishing and caught one pike and some small perch in the morning. It got real hot in the afternoon so we decided to go for a boat ride to cool down. In Alex-bay went to pull in to swanbay to look at a couple of houses and struck a rock with prop. The water level is down about two feet in the river. Spent the rest of the day looking for new prop. Thursday a shower first thing in the morning. Treated to a double rainbow. Went into town got a new prop and left mine to be rebuilt. On the water at around 1030. Caught a few perch and gobys. Again it got very hot in the afternoon and the wind picked up. We got off the water and tried again after supper. Only a few sunnies. Friday morning found me on the water soon after day break. I fished hard until 1130. I drifted with perch, crabs. I casted lures and trolled. Naa da, nothing, zillch. The weather forecast was for heavy rain all day Saturday. So after lunch we packed up and went home. |
