i have seen very much of the alabama rig in the elite series this year.. however i think there are certain laws/regulations in each state. this brings me to my first question - is this true???? i have also heard several anglers say you need a extra heavy rod.. would a med.- heavy work??? And im assuming you would use braid line? if so or if not tell me what line i shold use.
Thank yall for your time and hopefully your responces ....     and as always god bless-

The A-Rig was banned from the BASS Elite Series this year and forever at this point. Yes it is not legal in every state, so check with your DNR regulations before you start throwing it.

You're best off using a Heavy power, Fast Action rod. 50lb + braid is ideally whats being used. Remember, using an A-rig you can hook up with multiple fish at once, so the heavier equipped the better.

Yes, certain states and certain bodies of water in other states prohibit the Alabama rig (and its 375 imitations) - usually a number of hooks regulation. Since most of my fishing is in fairly heavy brush, and I don't see it working except in pretty open water, I really haven't considered it.
You should see the new rod and reel I got for my wife. I feel like it was a pretty good trade.
