On friday at 12:00am a gunman walked into Century 16 movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado and killed over 15 people and injured over 70. He walked in with a glock and an m16 and a shotgun! packed with over 6000 rounds of ammunition he first threw tear gas, and shot away! His house was also found to be booby traped and also had buckets of ammunition.. which leads me to believe that this was a premeditated assualt!!!!! i wanted to type this fourm becasue i wanted to hear what you guys had to say. i am deeply saddened by this news and wish him justice. My heart and prayers go out to the families whom lost their loved ones. I cant imagine how they feel. the worst news it the youngest killed was a 6 yr old girl!!! this man is a phycopath and something needs done to prevent this from happening EVER AGAIN!! again, my heart and prayers go out to the families whom lost their loved ones. - GOD BLESS ALL |

Just My Opinion...When one doesn't show any bad tendencies toward man and can just order what they want on line, and have NO Police record, HOW does one stop someone from doing this? Changes need to be made in registry of firearms, type of arms, why they need it, and amount of ammo purchased [ too large?] check them out. It's just not possible under the current guidelines police forces must use. Ordering 4 guns in 60 days might/should draw a red flag from The FBI. Esp when an Assault Rifle is purchased by anyone in the general public with no real need for it. And where did he get 15,00 rounds of ammo? Anything over say [ 500 rds ] buyer should be checked out as to why they need that much [or more] Kind of hard to trace handgun, rifle ammo and small sized ammo due to the amount of target practice competition shooting and Hunting most folks legally do. If it seems unusual [gun and ammo orders] then have the Police, FBI go check the person out // FACE-To-FACE. A tragedy like Aurora might be stopped when suspicious orders are followed up. |

i agree to this completly. if they do buy that many rounds in one purchase or two.. even three something could be done. The law should make a limit for rifles and shotgun ammo purchases. -God Bless ALL |

What a terrible situation. There will always be some psycho that has to kill people for their own demented reasons, no matter where you go. That is why I wish someone in that theater was packing. I would have shot him dead with my 357. I carry on my ankle. My heart goes out to those who lost heir lives. |

Actually, the rifle used by monster in Colorado is not an "Assault Rifle", the proper term is "Paramilitary", which could be loosely translated means " Looks like Army gun but isn't". A genuine "Assualt Rifle" is full auto capable which means it is a machine gun. As for the amount of ammunition purchased, that might not even be a weeks supply for a competative shooter. It amuses me when you hear the news people say"Fully automatic machine gun", which means "machine gun machine gun". Those types of rifles are becoming more common in hunting as "Modern Sporting Rifles". They started mainly as varmint rifles because of the calibers but are getting wider usage as calibers for deer and so forth are being fitted to them. I wonder sometimes if the best thing to do would be to bury the names of these people so they will not have any fame. Another thing, it would help their families, Holmes parents had to move because they were receiving death threats-the son didn't live with them either. I agree with CQ that a person with a permit for concealed weapons might have saved some lives, even though the bum was wearing body armour, getting shot still hurts and slows your focus. I could be noted that shortly before the shooting at Virginia Tech, the administration had successfully lobbied against a bill which would have allowed holders of concealed carry permits to carry their guns on campus-One crowed that the campus was now a much safer place. The question is, safer for who???? |

If people wish to get a gun they will, by legal means or not.Illegal Drugs are outlawed so there must be less of them. What happened in Aurora is indescribable. My daughter knows the bicylist that was going cross country that happened to stop there and take in a movie. We as a society has to stop slapping the hands of crimals and make them pay for their offenses. A terrorist with box cutter took out thousands, lest we forget 9 1 1. Lets outlaw boxcutters. Drunk drivers kill thousands each year, let outlaw cars. The problem here is with PEOPLE. I don't have the anwser to how to fix what is wrong, but it starts at home. The key word is RESPECT. My two cents. Alright three cents. |

While I somewhat agree with those who would like more people armed (such as CQ) I worry about innocent persons in such a chaotic situation. IF someone could get off a good shot, yes it would at the least distract the offender but would it really stop them? I'd like to think carrying would be a deterrent but how can you deter someone who isn't sane to begin with? I wish I had the answer but like most I don't. As for your comment about "machine gun machine gun", AZ, don't get me started- 'Hot water heater', VIN number....? Lets hope someday we figure this whole gun issue out so those who choose to use them responsibly can, and those who wouldn't or can't DON'T! |

The gun banners say outlawing guns will prevent these things from happening. Yes, it will prevent GUN massacres , but the perpetrators of these horrors will then turn to the same weapon used by monsters in countries where firearm access is non existent.......BOMBS. Like the Oklahoma City bomb, made with readily accessable materials and providing them with killing power dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of times higher than ever achievable with firearms. They will lose their sense of power of directly killing face to face, but they will not be deterred by a lack if firearms. So lets fervently pray that the gun banners never get their way........the horrors will become far worse if they do.
