I need some advice from you life members.  I have been well pleased with my club membership and I feel it is a very good value at $12.00 a year.  The gifts have been of good quality, and I have had no problem receiving them.  My question is this the life membership cost $299.00, this will cover the membership for 25 years at $12.00 a year.  I have several years on me I'm not as young as I once was.  Hopefully I have many more years of fishing left, but old age is creeping up on me.  I do not see the value of the life membership at my stage in life, I'm I missing something or not?  I know I would receive a rod, reel, and case, but that is expensive at $299.00.  I would like some of the opinions of you life members.  Thanks KEEP ON FISHING

Hello retiredcop, I don't know how long you have been a member but they will take off what ever you have already paid for your annual membership that you have paid to bring the price down ( if you have been a member for five yr's at $12.00 that comes to $60.00 off of the top bringing your total from $299.00 down to $239.00 ) for your lifemembership just to let you know. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CHOICE ................JOHN

I joined when I was 56 and figured @ $12 / year I would be 80 when it evened out...But, minus the years that I was just a member (not lifer) it brought the years down to 77! Sub tract the value of the free stuff and you have a great value. Add the value of the website and all the friends I have here...Priceless!

Don't waste your money if you can't afford it! The NAFC has gotten so big, it's all about the money now. I am a Trophy Member and wish I never bothered. They senjd you stuff at a good price, then when you accept,  the next items double in price! Save your money!!

I to have no regrets about joining and becoming a life member. That said, given the current direction the club seems to be taking, I could not in good conscience recommend it to a new member at this time. We shall see.

I can tell you that as a life member for about 17 years, I just received for the FIRST time, a test product that sub standard and not a brand name. It broke the the 5th time I used it. I have found that NAFC does want to sell me tools ,rings and all kinds of stuff that has nothing to do with fishing.  I m sorry and I maybe wrong ,but I think it's all about the money so Steve can take his trips all over the country and fish ,and we pay for it .I have fished all my life and I don't understand how all I get for my money is a mag once a month and nothing else when they tell you about all the benifits and such. Oh yes if you want to spend all kinds of money for trips, they will (or should I say) the sponsers will give you a good deal if you go on there trips. Thay don't realize that  not everybody has the money that other people have. I am glad that you have received good products from NAFC That tells me that there is still hope. I wish you luck in your membership .

That's my biggest gripe/complaint with this club. They want to sell you anything and everything that ISN'T fishing related. The things that are semi related such as books, dvds, calanders, knives...are...well I'll leave it at that. How about sending us members actual fishing related items, like lures and tackle...I'd gladly pay for that. I'm not saying a rod and reel, but something that I can actually use while fishing. And btw NAFC..enough with the "limited edition" knives. If I didn't want it the first time around, what makes you people think I want it this time?

Well said Barresi i would love the chance to buy line, lures ,rod or reels , tackle box or something that i can use on the water that will help me catch more fish, rather then a book that is out of date and dose not help me in any way shape or fourm on the water..I think the club would make more money in the long run if they gave us that chance to get discounts on those items rather then on books and d.v.d.s. ............JOHN

Hello timbo9229, when i joined the club they would take eveything that you have paid and take that away from your lifemember ship. ( so if you paid $ 36.00 over acouple of yr's and lifemember is $299.00 take away the $36.00 then all you have to pay would be $263.00 to become a lifemember ) these numbers that is there is just to show you how it works ..........Call members service and see if they are still doing this and they can give you the right amount ..JOHN

I have had my Life membership for about 17 years now. The only item I ever received is a card that fit in your tackle box that showed the different knots. I hear about these people getting all kinds of items and I have yet to receive anything that is good. I don't even get the non fishing related items.

E-mails to the club have not been responded to. I gave up on it and the magazines get thrown in the recycle bin on the way from the mailbox.

Personally, I think there are many free forums and websites that offer more to its users than this club does. A little searching and you will find them.
