What current line would work best on a Pflueger Akron 1893?

I have a Pflueger Supreme from about the same time line as the Akron. It is spooled with Trilene 12lb. test, and works as well as any modern baitcaster. I have an Akron also...but have never spooled it. I see no reason ANY of the vintage Pfluegers wouldn't work fine with a quality mono.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

Thank you for the info.  I am looking forward to trying it out.  Do you use a med or heavy rod?  right now I am looking at using a med.

I seem to get the best results from these old reels on a quality rod from the same era. Rods back then were a little "whippier" than they are now, so go with a Medium action in a newer rod.
