Gel coat repair and fiberglass repair are two entirely different animals. Fiberglass repair is relatively easy. The gel coat covers and protects the fiberglass. It requires several steps. I've read "easy" gel coat repair articles in BoatU.S. magazine and would just have someone who knows what they're doing do the job if it were me.

If it was me I take it to a good fiberglass shop and have them do it! I've done it in the past and won't do it again , will pay for it to be done! JMHO!

Depending on how deep the cracks go, you can try rubbing compound that can be found at any auto parts store. High speed buffer will do better then hand rubbing.
