If you put your fishing rods up for the winter, when do you start fishing in the spring?

I just put my rod away, sadly. Not only because of fall/winter but because I will be leaving for the military in a few days. I usually fish though as soon as I can in the spring! When all the snow is gone!

Went out fishing yesterday and clobbered the walleyes. Will probably fish till the end of October then but it all away. I'll start fishing again May 1st at black lake for northern pike.

I usually start fishing in April for stripers on the Hudson river. Went to Black lake this past August. It was really hot caught some crappies and tried to catch some pike but caught a large catch fish instead.

Yep there's lots of crappie in that lake along with LMB and SMB. Been going there and Canada for about 25 years. The northerns at BL love Mepps #4 and 5 black fury in-lines.

I don't really stop fishing unless the weather don't cooperate , like last winter. It wasn't cold enough to make good safe ice, but was crappy enough not to stand out and fish. This last March the weather was great and we got to fish quite a bit. In April a bunch of us took a road trip to Illinois to Lake Kincaid for several days. So basically if it is hafeway decent out I will be out there rod in hand. Going out today with a buddy here in a couple hours. Yesterday I came home with 18 fat crappie for the deep fryer.
