When it comes to fishing line there is many different options out there let alone lots of different brands to choose from. i use suffix, stren, berkley, and power pro braid. i came across copolymer fishing line while browsing at some fishing line on a website. i was looking at Silver Thread AN40 and Silver Thread Excalibur. i am not familiar with copolymer line just wondering if anyone has any info on these lines. from what i have read it is superior to monofilament. just looking for some info.

Almost all mono lines can be classed as a co-polymer. Co-polymer means that the material the filament is extruded from has more than one polymer, which is another name for plastics such as nylon. The co-polymers I have used were basically very similar to a high quality mono like Ande's

Yep...generally with a co-polymer the inner material will be geared towards flexibility...while the outer material is geared toward abrasion resistance. I have used the AN40, and it performs as well as any good mono.

The Excalibur is a more stiff line as well as having a larger line diameter and higher abrasion resistance. It is better suited for baitcasting reels. The AN40 is a softer line and is better suited for spinning reels.

I've used the AN40 and I liked that it has a smaller diameter than the regular mono. I can fit a few more yards on my salmon reel which can be helpful at times. And it casts great!
