How about using straw shaped licorice candy in my tube lures? I am thinking of Twizzer's brand which is straw shaped with spiral twists... I want to place in the middle of the tube and add a rattle

Twizzlers will slowly disolve in the water and you'll lose your rattle.

Good point, Super glue the rattle first then add the candy. Cheap and the gooey feel should make a fish stay on a bit longer

I do know an angler that swears by Gummi Worms for bait!

I am going to try it this upcoming season. Besides, I can eat the candy during the day

I'm thinking that twizzlers of any flavor would be great carp bait, and the black twizzlers would be good for catfish.

I keep reading about oil of anise, so I think, licorice. As it softens it will feel maybe lifelike to a bass. I can thread it onto the line as well
