I'm looking for a new way of spending time fishing and reeling in crappies, looking to start fly fishing for them.  Any suggestions on what types of flies to use and where a good place to purchase them would be?

countryhick289 Welcome to the NAFC forums

marabou or rabbit strip minnow imitation such as a zonker is a good choice and I like any color so long as it’s white LOL. Start with a size six fly about an 1 1/2 long and go down in size if the fish seem reluctant to bite.
you can find them at your local fly shops, bass pro, cabellas, sportsmans warehouse ,dicks, etc.

I like beadhead woolly buggers for crappies near me, you can find them just about anywhere and I think the bead gives it a little more attraction. Agreed on size, #6 works well and a #8 is usually small enough. Streamers are the way to go for crappie.

Ok sounds like some some good places to start anyway. Thanks for the opinions and the help. Cant wait for some warmer weather going into spring to get out and try it out. Never fly fished before may be interesting for a little while. lol Ill be sure to pick some of those flies up and try it out. Thanks again.
