I have been a member for 15 years, and like many other members, I eagerly await each magazine issue... then read it cover-to-cover when it arrives. After that, I'll re-read it several times, including all my back issues. Over the years, I have become more and more disappointed in the frequency and thickness of the magazine. New members, we used to get 12 full magazines a year!
When the Jan/Feb 2013 issue arrived, imagine my further disappointment in reading material that I had already read. There is a question from "Member Greg Sorvari" in the Fishing Q&A on pg18 that was word-for-word "recycled" from the Feb 2010 issue (check it out in the Fishing Q&A on p20 of that issue). What an incredible waste of my money! I understand that we have a new editor that this could have easily slipped past, but seriously... is there just not enough fresh material to fill the pages?
SO just what is going on here? How many other things are being recycled into our fewer & smaller magazines? If I am to read the same articles over and over, I'd like to do it because I want to... not because that's all there is.

Bassmaster seems thinner too, and Bassin't totally disappeared along with Bass & Walleye Boats. |

So, 10 days since my original post and nothing from the editors yet??? I was kind of curious what their response to this would be. |

They would have had to read it. And then they would have had to care. |

I was looking at my Outdoor Life yesterday and it was only 78 pages, I can remember twice that. BASS is also thinner than in years past. I thought I saw a add for Bassin' recently though. Just hard for them to maintain all the fan base and advertising dollars I Presume. |

I just saw the current issue of Bassin' at the grocery store yesterday. It's thin too. They're all thin now! |

With the Internet, information is easily found. I have gone away from any paper and just Google it. I have not read my magazine in a few years. When they come, I just throw them in a pile with all the other junk mail until I take them to the mulch bin. The quantity and quality got so bad it is not worth it. Top that with the fact the support for the NAFC is poor at best.

The suits behind the NAFC have long since stopped caring about anything other than the cash flow generated by advertising and membership dues. Sad, but that seems to be the way of things. |

I quickly read through the mag also, no real value for me. The Infisherman mag is much better! The website used to be better than anything IMHO, but since the club management screwed it up there isn't much input any more. I would expect this club to be sold again in the not to distant future! |

Man you must really read those magazines multiple times for you to remember an article 2 years back, maybe they just wanted to make sure that you learned the information so they re wrote it to refresh your memory, yeah I m sure that's what it is! |

i haven't read a mag. from cover to cover in a few years. i glance thru it, read what looks like new stuff and go on. i do understand a reason to copy an old artical--at least part way--a few years down the road and i have notice that most mag. have done it a few times over the years.....but word for word....really |
