So I bought one of those grab bags from Orvis last year and I'm still trying to find uses for some of the stuff I got it in (gold foam, purple quills, among other things) but I'm still trying to figure out what one item is used for, because I've been drawing a complete blank. It's a thick, very soft, felt-like substance that gets progressively more orange as you look more directly at it and more yellow as you tilt it towards the horizontal. It's really bizarre stuff. Best way I can describe it would be if someone made a sheet of chenille. Can anyone tell me possibly what this stuff is and what's it's practical application at the tying bench?

Right on the money, that's exactly what it is! Thanks! Now to find a use for the weird color of it, suggestions? It's like orangey yellow, might make a decent craw pattern.

Nice looking flies in those links, I'll bet those crayfish would be very good bass patterns.
