Ever since I began fishing, I have always kept my tackle organized and in a very easy to find manner. Today, as a tournament fisherman I have found that an organized tackle box is one of the most important things to help maximize your time and efficiency on the water.
To keep my tackle organized in my
Ranger Z119, I use a variety of Plano Stowaway cases to customize each case for certain style baits and bodies of water. This way I can easily re-rig rods in the evening before a fishing trip and even more importantly find that key lure when I’m on the water.
I do sometimes fish out of my partner’s boat and when I do that, I can quickly grab the cases I need and put them in a soft side tackle bag, like the Guide Series 3700 bag. What is nice about these soft side bags is that I can fit four large cases in them, along with several smaller cases that have my tungsten weights and Trokar hooks in them. The zippered pockets and pouches allow me to stuff numerous bags of soft plastics in them.
I’ll divide my lures into specific groups and put those in a case, such as having a topwater box, crankbaits in another, and so on. With the different sizes of cases that Plano makes you can further divide up your lures, so you can easily find that specific lure.
During the summer months when I am going from tournament to tournament and lake to lake, I rely on a large assortment of different plastics and other tackle items. What I do is I put all of my back up tackle and extra bags of plastics in a Plano XXL Stowaway, which will hold enough plastics for the summer.
Come tournament day when I know the few select bags of plastics I’ll be using, I’ll put those bags in Stowaway that has no dividers; it is just an open case. This way the bags just get thrown in there and I can quickly grab what I need.
To keep my jigs and trailers organized, I rely on the double sided
4700 Stowaway. This case has been very helpful in staying organized because I can have one case for my flipping jigs and chunks and then another for my RC Tackle Swimming Jigs and grubs. Now I’ll always know where and only have to grab one case to rig up one of these baits.
If you decide to go with a soft bag with removable cases, you will be much happier with an organized tackle box. You will be able to find that hot lure when you need it on that fishing trip. And finally, the Plano tackle box system provides you with a quality product that will last you a lifetime.
