Milwaukee Harbor: Brown's and Pearch

Nov 30

Fishing this fall has been fantastic for brown trout and even big perch Ive been out a lot lately and the bite is been very consistent! Most trips we're getting 15 to 35 fish.

Lately we've been fishing all stand up tackle, meaning we're casting cranks such as flicker shads, jigging plastics using 3 to 4-inch white gulp minnows, fishing bobber's and jigs or spawn, and casting jigging spoons.

It's such a blast to see people catch fish casting and jigging. There's a bunch of shad in the harbor now which will suck in a lot of fish for this winter. It's great to see the large amounts of baitfish this fall and the trout are hammering on the schools of baitfish.
Trolling is consistent, 2 to 3 colors of leadcore have been working, and boards with flicker shads back 40 to100 feet. The new bigger flicker shads size 9s are working awesome and have been my bread and butter; most trips it's the top producing crank bait. Fish have been all over in the water column so it's not that difficult to get bite.

With the amount of fish around this has been a great fall and should carry over into an awesome winter. We've also been catching a good mix lakers and browns in 35 to 50 feet of water.

* Note- lake trout season is closed until March 2013. FYI at times while fishing for browns we run into some big lakers and release all of them.

Last but not least we've getting some browns up in the rivers, near power plants, boils, and marina's. Still chasing that elusive 40-pounder.

I troll for these same fish on the other side of the lake this time of year. What colors work for those Flicker Shads?
