Berkley Vanish Transition ($14.99 to $16.99) has a highly visible gold color when exposed to sunlight but turns fluorocarbon clear underwater, where ultraviolet light is filtered out. The chameleon properties help anglers with finesse techniques. The line is strong, casts smoothly and maintains 100 percent of its strength when wet. "While fishing clear lakes with Vanish Transition I got twice as many strikes as my boat partners who were using mono. It casts well and has good sensitivity."

"This makes line watching easy. Vanish is really easy to see above water and nearly invisible underwater."

I have found the Vanish Fluorocarbon will break for no apparent reason. At first I thought I may have forgotten to wet the line when tying knots resulting in weak points. But this is not the case. Often it will break away from the knot. And yes I check my line regularly for nicks. I have asked around and have found others experiencing the same thing.

I have been using Brekley Vanish Flourocarbon for around 3 years now and have yet to have ANY breakage that wasn't caused by me.!! Wrong knot, not retieing after landing a big fish and other stuff.
I started using a knot Alton Jones uses with Flourocarbon and have not had a "break off" since. the only folks that consistantly have break-offs DON'T use the knot that I've shown them. And just so everyone knows I fish Sam Rayburn, Amistad, Belton, Stillhouse, Livingston and many other lakes in Texas that are LOADED with junk!!!!!!!!!!

I have been using Berkley Vanish Transition (red) for a couple years in 10 and 12 pound. I use it on a Shimano Curado baitcaster on a 7' Shimano Crucial rod. It is tough line. Casts a mile (reel is super-tuned). Very few squirrel nests (backlash). Never had it break. Ties and holds knots well, I mostly use Palomer, Uni and Snell knots... no special knots.
The red color above water makes it easier to watch the line for the smallest tic or wiggle.
Can't say enough good about this line.
