I have been using the STX for 4 years and it is my go to bait casting reel. I never had a birdsnest (backlash). It is smooth as silk and easy to strip down and clean. I use it mainly for crank baits and worms with 12# Silver Thread Excaliber line. It's a perfect match between reel and line.
The price has been holding steady with no increase in 4 years. It will run circles around my other more expensive bait casters.
LOVE THE REEL!

I've been using Revos since they came out and they are wonderful. I use the Revo S's and ST's in the boat for largemouth and ST's and STX's in my Yak for smallies. For smallies, I use light action rods and lots of 1/8th and 3/16th oz baits. Casting long distence is no problem and no backlashing.

I was at the BassPro shop in Charlotte, NC and was really tempted on buying this reel, but I figure I'd tested it first to see if I like it or not. The other reel I was looking at is the enigma which looked sick! and promises no more backlash. So send me the product asap! lol
