I just joined the club 4/19/11 Sounds like I was hooked and reeled in to LOL We will c if they send me anything. Maybe we should all try and figure a way to band together and protest what is going on with them. After all they got what they wanted (money) now its time to get what they promised US. What you paid for was a subscription to a magazine, let's not forget that fellas. If I'm not mistaken there are 7 issues released each year, so if you haven't received an issue it's most likely due to the fact that some months are skipped over and you receive 1 magazine in a 60 day period. The other offers and inclusion in the Field Testing program are added perks, not so much free tackle and gear that you're entitled to from day one. Perhaps you should read up on the program a little more. You fill out a field test profile form telling the NAFC how often you fish, where you fish, what you fish for etc. then IF there are items that match your profile you MAY be sent something to test and keep. Nothing in there implies any promises or guarantees made by the NAFC. Sorry to sound so negative, but I'm annoyed at how many posts I find on this site from angry members griping because they haven't received anything. Read what you're getting into first and wait patiently. Your other option is coming on here, posting about how unfair your membership is and behaving like a pissed off 4 year old on Christmas morning. Take your pick.

I tested some bobbers and Hooks but nothing else. Membership got cancelled due to a problem i had, now im back again hope to test more stuff...

i didn't know that this whole thing was a join to get stuff site. i was hoping this club was a fishing club at least that what i paid for and the only thing i am looking for is people to talk about fishing to. and hear other peoples stories. im 19 yes i would love to try stuff out but i would reather just go fishing.

I didn't join to get free suff! That would be a nice perk. However I joined to hear about new fishing tecniques, new stuff and to support the NAFC in their fight for my fishing rightrs. I am a life member and am extremly satisfied with everything except their salt water coverage and that is getting better

i thought people joined to experence different ideas and different ways on improveing their fishing.not to gripe and complain about not getting free stuff.ive got 1 junk fishing pole and a few hooks and i use nuts and bolts for weights so stop complaining and enjoy the sport of fishing.

I`ve seen words people don`t know how to spell.The word all was spelled al,and the word Great was spelled Grate.There are other mistakes as well but too many for me to mess with.Wait till you kids get out of school to join clubs.

Ihave tested a few things nothing major. bobber hooks and some bait. You start small and work your way up to rods and reals. The main thing is you actually have to test the product and give a real honest review. If you do that then They have you test out more stuff. It took about a year to get my first product test. And really theres a million testers and only so many products.Very satisfied with the club. Actually a magazine that doesnt regurgitate what all the others state.

Theres alot of negativity on here I just became a member and to b honest it was mostly to try out free stuff and alittle for some tips but i'm sure were all grown here nothing is free 5 hooks and a sticker that was free come on there not gonna give free a $120.00 anything count all the people on here and add that up i'm sure at some level they give free stuff and if not so what $12.00 for a year the first great tip u get out of it pays that $12.00 and if it adds to the fun I have with my kids keep the free stuff and if you dont like N.A.F.C cancell

Truly, the only thing you paid for was a magazine subscription. Ive heard much about the okuma citrix, i own a okuma tormenta. But this citrix would complete my rod, and I suggest people get this reel. Ive heard great things!

Welcome to capitalism. This club is in it to make money so try to understand or perhaps consider moving to Europe (Greece may be a bad idea, their socialism has them in a bit of a bind right now). The club will send you tons of stuff supposedly for free and then you'll get follow up stuff that is not cheap. Some will regard it as a good deal, some won't, but you have a CHOICE (God Bless America) to opt out. As for the member test program, I have been a life member of NAFC for 6 yrs and just this winter, I received this reel to test (Woo Hoo!). I have clicked my butt off on the contests for over 6 yrs, nothing, and since I moved to the coast and spend my time in saltwater, the mag really does me no good. BUT, the NAFC supports conservation and that's pretty much why I joined in the first place. Our country is in a heck of a mess because we got too many people waiting around for free stuff. I'd think NAFC members were better than that. God Bless

i just joined a few days ago in hopes to hear real fishing tips, tricks and secrets to help improve my catch count and to load my family up in the boat splash around the local fishing hole enjoying quality time with whats important family. maybe im wrong but is it or is it not what we go to work day in and day out is about enjoy the so few hours we get to spend with family's hunting fishing making lifetime memories. looking at some not all of the comments sounds like me and my brothers did back in preschool he got this he got that. well something your parents should have told you growing up " you want something get off the couch make money and buy it then its yours do with it what u want" sure it would be nice to get a reel or any product to test but be thank full you can get real opinions from people doing the same thing we do before you spend your own money to buy one hell you want something for free join welfare me ill work to get what i want

They make it sound good with all this free stuff and products to test and keep free then you pay your dues and some new guy comes and gets the the sweet real the next day their are alot of people who need to get a product to test and yeah we might have alot of fishing stuff to talk about and programs but don't advertise free products to test and keep if you don't plan on doing it hope to here from you soon or get something to test

Well, I only done the 30 day free trial, and not even a week in I got a bill, and they don't even have the courtesy to send me a bobber or hook.lol If I don't like how they do this, I just won't pay. Makes sense to me, I'm tired of paying for crap that I don't even get on other programs, so that's what I have to say.

I have been a life member for 14 years and have tested nothing. However they will give you a decent rod and reel when you are alife member. You also get lots of stuff to buy or send back ie; silver coins, fishing knives, fish finders etc.

I have been a member since 09 and the only thing ive tested has been a new style hook for crappie fishing.the club dues that you pay is so Steve can go fishing all over the country on our dime.

Then go find two or three of your other cry baby club members, row out, or motor out to the deepest spot you can find, secure Neck Anchor tightly around your necks, and then jump over board. It would be nice if we all could be field tester and get free stuff but that is the luck of the draw. I feel we are all sport men&women we should seek more knowledge about fishing that is more valuable then the free gift. NAFC sucks. they say we can test products, but who knows if these prducts are actually tested or they just say they are. i think its BS

After you receive a product, you’ll need to submit another Product Testing Profile Form in order to be eligible to test another one. Note: It will take time to receive a product, depending if we have products that align with your profile information.(You must first submit the form! and then resubmit ever time you get a product. It may take a while sometimes but they do have products.)

Children behave! If you are a member, it was by your own choice. I have been a life member since 2002 and I got exactly what I joined the club for: INFORMATION ABOUT FISHING AND NEW PRODUCTS. The memeber testing area is a perk I have participated in a couple of times already and I have followed the associated rules. I don't think all this whining does anything positive for any of us. The club only gets a limited number of products from the companies to give out to members to try, so try to be patient. In the mean time, enjoy your reading.

I have been a member for 7 years, in that time i have had the oppertunity to test 3 products.The last one was the OKUMA reel,it was great that they picked me,but this is not why I became a member. I wanted to find out more about FISHING and others tricks of the trade. Over the years I have found ways to improve my fishing, and these ,I have passed to my friends,so STOP, LOOK & LISTEN,read the articals, watch the videos, and lister to what others have to say about our favorite sport. Buy a product ,try it out then comment about it , don't complain about what you didn't get. Get what you came for...... INFORMATION.

Would hope the people testing gear would write a little more then a 2 sentence in their review. Like to of had a little more info on the Okuma Citrix reel then its a good reel fo rthe money.

NMFC should make them at least fill out a questioner about the product. Like how did the reel feel in your hand, what type of fishing you used it for. Line test. did you catch fish and how big, how did it handle a big fish if you hooked one. Was there any problems wth backlash?

Just a thought, after all isn't that why they are testing the reel or product in the first place?

Yes it would be nice to get stuff to test, but if thats why you are here, you better put your tail between your legs and go down to your local Tackle store and see how much free stuff they will give you.

I happen to think what NAFC is doing is great, I have been able to read reviews and they have helped me with some important tackle buys.

I for one yes would love to test soem gear, but if it doesn'r happen I'm not going to sit around crying about it. How about going out and getting a job and buying it yourself????

Guys you know what better then bitching about not getting something to test, How about getting a job and buying your own gear? Do you honestly think they can give everyone a new reel or rod to test. The real reason for the Magazine is to supply readers with information and technical info on how to catch fish, and what gear works and doesn't.

What a Great reel for the money get a Smoke 150 in either 7.3:1 0r 5.3:1 they both cast a mile, even into the wind, and have the power to pull your fish out of the heavy stuff. Caught over 200 fish over 3 days on a recent trip to Lake Aqua Milpa. Largest 7 lbs most in the 2 - 3.5 lb class. Took reel apart after wards and there is no visible signs of wear.
