Racine, Wis.—Completely redesigned for 2014, the new Talon gives freshwater and saltwater anglers the ability to anchor down to 12 feet—the deepest shallow water anchor on the market.
“We knew anglers wanted the benefits of a shallow water anchor in deeper water,” Minn Kota Marketing Director Joe Brown said. “The ability to anchor down to 12 feet broadens the fishing applications and expands the value to fishermen. And Talon is the only shallow water anchor to reach this depth.”
Even with the additional anchoring depth, the height of the new Talon does not increase due to the innovative three-stage deployment system. The system utilizes a sequential deployment that quickly and quietly moves the spike vertically until it is securely anchored.
It is designed to be virtually silent, provide more anchoring options and to perform in extreme conditions. The new 12- and 10-foot models are available in red, blue, black and silver, and are engineered for both freshwater and saltwater applications.
Three distinct anchoring modes are available on the new Talon models. The new Soft Bottom mode prevents the spike from being driven too deeply into a sandy or soft-mud bottom by driving the spike with a single hit and less anchoring force. Auto-Drive mode gives three sequential hits using increasing force to ensure that the Talon is solidly anchored. When the water becomes choppy, the Rough Water mode can be employed. This function performs three Auto-Drive sequences to maintain a secure hold.
Built in the tradition of Minn Kota ruggedness, each Talon is backed with a five-year limited warranty, plus a lifetime warranty on the spike and five-year warranty on all brackets. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the 10-foot Talon is $1,849.99 and $1,999.99 for the 12-foot Talon.
