White crappies are cooperative biters but weak fighters.

White crappies are cooperative biters but weak fighters. They're easiest to catch in spring when they move into the shallows to spawn, but you'll have to work heavy cover to locate them. In summer, you'll often find the fish suspended in open water. You can catch white crappies on the same baits and lures used for blacks.

During the spawning period, drop a minnow into openings between the branches of fallen trees or brush piles. The fish nest in colonies, so when you get a bite, work the area thoroughly.

When white crappies are in weedy or brushy cover, use a spin - rig (a small, skirtless spinnerbait), tipped with a minnow.
