When fly fishing for steelhead, anglers typically use split shot to help get the fly down deep. I’ve found that the lead twist-on weights, which resemble matchsticks, are much better. Not only do they help create a smoother cast, but the streamlined weight creates a more natural swing when streamer fishing. Plus, you can use as little, or as much, as you like.
